In 2024, I founded Wayfinder to tackle a gap I noticed in our education and development systems: the purpose gap.
Having navigated my 15-year journey from Palo Alto to Shanghai and back, I’ve learned the importance of purpose for driving academic or professional success.
Wayfinder is my third venture, born from a desire to guide teens towards discovering and pursuing their own paths with greater intention and clarity.
My background in Palo Alto’s competitive educational environment showed me the strengths and limitations of traditional schooling.
It taught me a lot, but not how to find my own direction. And I had very few adults who took an active interest in providing me with guidance.
Moving to Shanghai on the advice of Guy Kawasaki changed my perspective, teaching me the real-world value of purpose and self-direction. In Shanghai I ran an award-winning marketing agency and then a software startup, selling to some of the world’s largest brands.
These experiences form the foundation of Wayfinder’s coaching model, designed to help teens turn their potential into purpose.
As a father to young children, my ultimate goal is to prepare my daughters for the future, equipping them with the tools to find their own purpose.
Wayfinder is how I plan to make this vision a reality, not just for my children but for teens everywhere. It’s about giving them the guidance I wish I had at their age, especially when it’s challenging to coach our own kids.
